How do you convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?
The exact formula: multiply the Celsius temperature by 9/5 (or 1.8) and add 32. So 25C becomes 45 plus 32, or 77F. Going the other way, subtract 32 first, then multiply by 5/9.
For real life, the approximation double it and add 30 gets you within a few degrees across the human weather range: 20C doubles to 40, plus 30 is 70, versus the true 68. Good enough for packing decisions, not for baking.
Faster still is memorizing anchors: 0C is freezing, 32F. 10C is a cool 50. 20C is a pleasant 68. 30C is a hot 86. 37C is body temperature, 98.6. 100C boils water at 212F. And one piece of trivia that wins bar bets: the scales cross at minus 40, the only temperature where both systems agree, which is fitting, since at minus 40 nobody cares what unit the misery is in.
Exact: multiply by 9/5 and add 32. Fast enough for weather: double it and add 30. And the anchor points to memorize: 0C is 32F, 20C is 68F, 30C is 86F, 37C is body temperature.
