How do you get red wine out of anything?
Speed and restraint win. Blot up everything you can with a clean cloth, pressing rather than rubbing, since rubbing drives pigment into fibers. Then flush from the back of the fabric with cold water. Hot water at this stage cooks the stain in.
For washable fabric, the combination cleaning researchers keep validating is dish soap mixed with hydrogen peroxide, dabbed on, left to sit, then laundered cold. Oxygen-based stain removers work on the same chemistry. The party remedies, table salt, club soda, pouring white wine on red, test out somewhere between weak and counterproductive; salt can even set some dyes.
The unbreakable rule: no dryer until the stain is fully gone, because heat sets it permanently. Rewash a survivor instead. For carpet, blot, cold water, then the peroxide-soap mix after testing a hidden spot; for dry-clean-only, blot and surrender it to the professionals quickly.
Blot, never rub, then flush with cold water. On washables, dish soap plus hydrogen peroxide is the proven combination. Salt and white wine are dinner-party folklore. Never dry it until the stain is gone.
